Kajol is an award-winning India film actress who started her acting career at the age of 17 with Bekhudi in 1992. Her first big hit was Baazigar, along with Shahrukh Khan, with whom she made many other box-office hits. Many of these films earned her Filmfare awards for Best Actress.

Kajol, born in 1975, belongs to a family tree filled with members of the Indian film industry. Her mother, Tanuja, is an award-winning actress and her father, Shomu, is a film producer. Her maternal aunt, Nutan, is the current record holder for the most (5) Filmfare Awards for Best Actress - Kajol is fast catching up with 4 herself. Kajol's cousins includes Indian film actress Rani Mukherjee. Kajol's younger sister Tanisha Mukherjee has also more recently started a film career.

Kajol married fellow Indian film actor Ajay Devgan, on February 24, 1999. After the release of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham in 2001, from which she well earned many Best Actress awards, she took a sabbatical from full-time acting. In 2003, she gave birth to her daughter Nysa. In 2006 she successfully returned to the big screen and continues to make movies.
